Update 17 March 2021

The Horndon Feast and Fayre Organising Committee reviewed the Government roadmap for a phased return to 'normal' from Covid restrictions, together with the warnings from their scientific advisers that any flare up of infections, or failure to meet any of the milestones, would delay these target dates. The earliest possible date for allowing mass gatherings is only five days before the Feast and Fayre weekend and therefore any delay would force cancellation. They decided the risk of this was too high to continue with plans for a Feast and Fayre in 2021 and the next event will be in 2022. The Horndon 10k Committee is in full agreement with this decision but it means we will not be able to hold the Horndon 10K race in 2021 but will postpone it until June 2022. This is the safest option and will provide the best race day experience for our entrants and their friends and families.

As valued participants of our race, entrants who carried over their original entry to 2021 will have their entry automatically carried over to the 2022 race which will take place on the 26th June at 11:00am.  Currently this means that the race for 2022 is full and it is unlikely that any further entries will be offered to what we believe to be one of the most popular running events in Essex.

Existing entrants to our race, do not need to do anything as we have maintained a full list of runners and will contact you in good time prior to the 2022 event with the final race day details.  If you need to update your original race entry details then please contact us via email at or through the links provided on our Horndon10K Facebook page and this web site.

Lastly on behalf of all of the Horndon 10K team we thank you for your valued ongoing support. We wish you all to stay safe and well over the coming months and look forward to seeing you at what will be a great event in 2022

Update 6 March 2021

We know lots of you are keen to hear whether we are able to offer the Horndon 10K as a race in the usual format for 2021 after the disappointment of having to cancel 2020.

The Government's published four step roadmap indicates that the earliest date for a return to 'normality', which would allow mass participation events like ours to take place, is the 21st June, just five days before the Saturday of Feast and Fayre. Each of the four steps of this roadmap will only go ahead on the published date if the pandemic data is favourable. It may turn out that restrictions will still be in place over the Feast and Fayre/Horndon10k weekend.  This uncertainty may diminish as time goes by when the balance between the easing of restrictions and the benefit of vaccinations becomes apparent. Even if allowed, would Horndon welcome an influx of thousands of visitors, and will there even be a Feast and Fayre this year?

As a committee we are meeting regularly to assess the situation and examine all possible options. Rest assured, those who had their entries carried over from the 2020 race into 2021 are still on our database and will be the first to be contacted via email as and when we have a firm decision on the 2021 race in June.

Update 23 January 2021

This pandemic is dragging on and on. Please keep returning here to look for news, we will post an update as soon as the situation clarifies...

Update 18 June 2020

Dear Runners, We hope you are all keeping well and thank you for your patience whilst we waited for the refund window to pass. Any runner who did not wish to carry their place over to 2021 and applied for the 80% refund should now have received it. If you applied for a refund through the Race Roster website and this has not come through, then please  e-mail us: or send a FB message to us.  All runners carrying over their place to the 2021 race on Sunday 27th June will receive confirmation of this from our Race Director soon.

Again may I thank you for your patience and understanding, we have been dealing with an unprecedented situation and many of our suppliers of goods and services have been closed or not answering phones or emails. We are determined that the 2021 event will make up for 2020's disappointment and will be enjoyable for runners and spectators alike.

Update 1 May 2020

Dear fellow runners, Firstly may I wish that you and your families are all safe and well.
I would also like to thank you for your patience since the announcement of the Horndon 10K cancellation. During this time we have been working hard on trying to reclaim some of our costs for this year’s event so that we could minimise the impact of the loss to our athletics club, however this has not been possible. Therefore to help to cover some of these costs, we will be offering an 80% refund of your original entry fee to those entrants that wish to do so. We will also be offering all entrants the alternative option of no refund but to carry over their entry fee for a guaranteed place in the 2021 race...

23 March 2020

Dear Runners, it is with a heavy heart that we have had to make the decision to cancel the 2020 Horndon 10K following the cancellation of the annual Feast & Fayre. Our priority, always, is the health and safety of our runners and volunteers.
